Lost space while working with images

VasylVasyl Posts: 866 ✭✭✭
Our customer lost huge part of C-drive's space. We fond the Temp folder in profile takes over 45GB....   there are mostly folders with images usen in accumark.
Can we just purge this folder or any solution?
If we purge thid folder will accumar's markers or pieces loose some data?

    @Vasyl How did he loss the Space. Delete or any other method.
    Usually when You delete something from the drive, Computer just erase it from the Directory but don't erase from the Hard Disk as that process takes much time. Computer just override that portion for new files and saves time. So if he accidentally deleted the files, he can use Recovery software to recover the data and it will work without any problem. There are plenty of freeware and paid software online which will do the task. But You might have to learn how to use them first...

    @MuhammadOwais, the customer working with imsges only. Cos he is first whos database become 10GB while worling on v12. I'd reorganize databases, reconfigure backups on Ddrive and free 45GB on Cdrive.
    latter the customer was update to v13.2 and for few days called me "C drive full againe". We'd investigate the temp folder in AppData growed up to 45GB. And!!! there are a lot of subfolders with images the customer using in pieces/markers in thisTemp folder...
    Major question: can we purge "temp" folder? Will it damage the pieces/markers?

    @Vasyl
    You can move it to any other drive (as a backup) and check if AccuMark work properly or not. Its a simple technique, like when I don't need any data, I put it to a Temp location for a month, then I see if everything is working fine w/o it, then I remove it from there.
    You can also take Windows backup before deleting it and if something goes wrong, You can revert the changes...

    Vasyl, what version is your customer on?  Prior to the implementation of the image library images were saved with every individual piece.  With the image library images are saved just once and referenced by pieces saving on disk space.  With the latest version you can reference an external drive, like the drive of the art department, which provides a live link if the images are updated.

    Hi Vasyl, the path you referenced is a temp folder when model or marker is currently opened that contains images. You will find these images contained within a sil_# folder or an Amx_# while the model or marker is currently opened. Once you close the AccuMark data type the temp folder should be automatically deleted. If by chance it is not, these folders can be deleted once the model or marker is closed.
