Gerber Sabre 408 Control Pad issues

I can't get the Orient System message to appear on the control pad. I blew out the tower cabinet, reseated the cable connections, and tried to reboot the machine multiple times. Each time I seem to get a different message on the control pad, and sometimes just a black band on the LCD screen or a series of happy or frown faces. The PAUSE and RESET buttons are illuminated but the machine does not respond to pressing any keys. I inspected the cable leading to the control pad from the R151 Keyboard connection on the tower cabinet and also tried bypassing this cable by connecting the control pad directly to the R151 tower connection with no luck. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
