regenerate marker overrides create and modified datesq

Whenever I regenerate a marker the system overrides the "created" and "previous modified" dates on my marker. Is there a way to make this not happen?

    Regenerate marker is REPLACING your previous marker so the create date is the regenerated date. This is as designed. The Previously Modified date should NOT change, though. Please clarify what is happening and on what version you started seeing this happen. Thanks.
