copying a storage in V8 and sending to a company with V8.5 problem

ppenguinppenguin Posts: 11
I copied a storage area in V8 and emailed a zip file to a company. My 1st attempt I forgot to include the pieces. I resent and the company could reimport the storage with the pieces. I went to the company with a flash drive with the storage area folder and a zip version as well. We were not successful. I am on Gerber V12.1 any advice on what I may be doing wrong?

Please explain what you mean by 'not successful". If you exported an AccuMark zip of the model and included components so you got the pieces, you should be able to use the same process with AccuMark Explorer -Import Zip when you are on an active V8 or V9 storage area name. That will import the model and pieces successfully from the zip file you created when exporting from your V8 storage area.

If you also had a storage FOLDER on the flash drive, what were you expecting to do with it?

To import the storage folder on the flash drive into a storage area that was created at the company I was trying to give the storage area to.

I meant to say... that when the company tried to reimport the storage area with the pieces included they did not get the pieces? I did check include components when exporting..

You cannot import a storage folder. You import the AccuMark zip file. If you are trying to take a storage area folder name in its entirety, that would be copied into c:\userroot\storage\

I did copy the storage area in the c:\userroot\storage and then put a  copy of the storage area folder on a flash drive and I also tried zipping the folder and emailing? Still had issues of importing the storage area on the person's computer who wanted the storage area?

Not sure what you mean? Can't I put the copy of the storage area  that I copied and pasted on a flash drive and the client could import?  I am not sure what I a doing wrong.

If you copying some storage - folder from userroot/storage, then client have to copy lastone to the same folder on own PC.
     !!!not import!!!.
Next he has to rescan srorages or reboot PC.

    Hi,
Instead of Import/Export, Copy the Storage area from the root directly.
Make sure You paste the SA (Storage Area) in the same root directory as of Yours.

For Example: Your storage area resides under following directory:
    "C:\userroot\storage\XYZ"
Where XYZ folder is your storage area.
Now Go to the customer's computer under same Directory:
"C:\userroot\storage\" and paste the folder here.

Now refresh the Storage Areas form AccuMark explorer (Or Press Alt+F5) and You'll find the SA there.

If the data in the SA is different from one system to other, Then make sure both systems are using same software generation or atleast 1 to 2 in difference...

I have done all that you wrote. I am on V12.2 and the person who I had the problem with is on V8.5 could that be the issue?

Do you really downgraded storage to v8 before copy/zip?

The storage area is already a V8 storage area that I am copying and pasting in the userroot-storage area.

Then you have "refresh alll" find proper command in View tab of Accumark explorer.
    And copied Storage mast appear.

AccuMark looks for all drive instances that start with \userroot and a View-Refresh will show teh userroot folders when drives are mapped as such.
